Marker illustration on recovered cardboard that’s been cut to shape featuring my good wood guy from Touching Doodles. I’m planning a big series of these cardboard pieces for a future exhibition.
Process
Cutting the cardboard to shape is as time consuming, if not more so, than the illustration step. These pieces work best when they have lots of intricate little cut outs to emphasise line work and to exaggerate their sense of volume when placed against a white wall. The “pop” when they are fully cut-out makes it all worth it.
After having completed a few artworks in this style I’m keen to see how far I can push the medium without losing any digits.
