Hi I’m Kyle Freeman!

Illustration of a guy made out of wood holding a sword and shield. he has a mischievous look on his face. The illustration is permanent marker on cardboard that's been cut to shape and then photographed

I’m an illustrator, artist, designer and sometimes writer from Sydney Australia. Friends say my speciality is drawing sad little guys wearing tiny hats.

Touching Doodles is a profoundly stupid and hopefully touching comic series written and illustrated by me. It’s sometimes thoughtful and sometimes silly. Touching Doodles is my longest running project spanning over 8 years and over 300 comics. All of the original comics were made with just ballpoint pens and post-it notes. The format is going to get a lot weirder from 2024 onwards.

This site is also meant to be a home for all my other creations away from the gaping maws of algorithms and social networks. It’s a collection of what I’m most proud of and most eager to share. My art usually focuses on a host of reluctantly cheerful characters living in a slightly twisted world. I’m obsessed with interesting lines and wobbly shapes.

My best work is usually with a pen and paper but I’ve always dabbled in digital art and sometimes mix the two. More recently I’ve become obsessed with cardboard. I’ve also done a heap of life drawing over the last few years.

Thanks for having a look around and please say hi 👋
